Radicalism and Tradition: Brandes, Ibsen and Nietzsche

My proposal holds on the investigation of the controversial relationship between Ibsen and Nietzsche and the hypothetical influence of the German philosopher on the Norwegian writer: I would focuses my attention on the writings dedicated to the matter “Nietzsche-Ibsen” by the Georg Brandes, who was an outstanding authority in Europe at the turn of the 19. Century (references to Ibsen are included in Brandes' major essay Aristokratisk Radikalisme. En Afhandling om Friedrich Nietzsche (1889), as well as in the short article Ibsen und Nietzsche ("Die Zukunft", 1906) and in further publications. The subject was argument of my research in the past (see my article "Diese typische alte Jungfrau ". Nietzsche, Ibsen og debatten om naturalismen. Studi nordici , 2000, v. VII, p. 71-81) and I'd put out this theme as my contribution to the Conference.
